This mug is shaped and fired by hand in Jingdezhen, then finished with a naturally weathered Gobi stone that forms its handle.
Unlike polished stone, the Gobi stone retains its raw surface and irregular edges, carrying traces of erosion shaped by wind, sand, and time. Its presence shifts the balance of the mug, creating a more grounded and tactile way of holding the object.
Each ceramic body is paired with an individually selected stone, resulting in natural differences in texture, weight, shape, and proportion. No two combinations are repeated.
The piece sits between utility and objecthood, functional enough for everyday rituals, yet sculptural enough to remain visually present within a space.
