This mug is shaped and fired by hand in Jingdezhen, then completed with a naturally formed agate stone as its handle.
The translucency and layered texture of agate introduce a quieter sense of refinement to the piece. In contrast to the smooth ceramic body, the stone brings depth, weight, and a cooler tactile sensation in hand.
Each mug is paired with a uniquely selected agate, resulting in subtle variations in colour, pattern, proportion, and balance. No two pieces are exactly alike.
Existing somewhere between function and sculpture, the object is intended for daily use, yet retains the presence of something collected rather than simply owned.
